Some Holiday Cheer?

Although you wouldn’t build a long-term portfolio startegy on this approach, there is much to be said about a Christmas Rally.

Key Points

·   Do the holidays bring out the best in people?  Including investors?

·   If you could only invest for a two-week period at the end of any month, since 1970 the best month (using the S&P 500 as a benchmark) would be December, far and away.

·   Investors frequently trade on emotions and the holidays can often trigger positive sentiments – regardless of  the prevailing market and economic conditions at play.

·  Will December 2023 close out as strongly as it has started?
